Watch out Dallas, PGA headquarters is headed your way!
That’s right folks, PGA headquarters is moving from West Palm Beach, Florida to 20 miles north of Dallas in Frisco, Texas. I’ve worked in Frisco before and while there, I noticed the area was growing at a rapid pace but had no idea it would be this large. It will consist of two 18 hole championship golf courses, hotels and retail space.
Seth Waugh, CEO of PGA of America, said in a statement. “Everything great starts with a dream. This is the beginning of a bold, new journey as we bring together world-class partners in a world-class location — to deliver innovative and differentiated experiences for our nearly 29,000 PGA golf professionals, golfers of all abilities and our staff.”
The new golf courses will not only be home to two PGA Championships in 2027 and 2034 but might possibly host a Ryder Cup event after 2036. The last time a men’s championship was played in Dallas was the 1963 PGA Championship at Dallas Athletic Club. I’m excited to hear this big change because it’s great for the surrounding area’s economy and perfect for Dallas’s golf community which has been improving year after year.
